The piece itself, laid flat. Waist, hip, thigh and leg opening are measured across one side, so double them for the full way round. Inseam is the full length.

Go on your waist first. Between two sizes we would take the larger, which gives room through the seat without much movement at the waistband.

Description

A proper tailored trouser. Single forward pleat on each side, a pressed centre crease running the full leg, and an extended tab waistband that closes clean without a belt. The cloth has real body, so the line holds all day instead of collapsing by lunch.

Woven at 280gsm from superfine merino. Firm, dry and matte, with enough structure to hold a crease the way a wool trouser should and enough give to sit in for eight hours.

  • Single forward pleat: room through the hip without bulk, and it falls back into place when you stand
  • Pressed centre crease: front and back, holds through wear
  • Extended tab waistband: closes flat with a horn-effect button, no belt required
  • Plain back: no pockets, no flaps, nothing to break the line
  • Naturally odour resistant: merino's antimicrobial structure means fewer washes
  • Thermoregulating: warm in a cold office, cool in a warm one

Available sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL

Care

Air it first. Merino clears odour on its own, so hanging a garment overnight usually does the work a wash would. Most pieces need washing a fraction as often as cotton.

When it does need washing, use the wool cycle at 30°C or cooler with a detergent made for wool. No bleach. No fabric softener, it coats the fibre and takes the odour resistance with it.

Never tumble dry, the heat and agitation felt the fibre and it does not come back. Do not wring. Press the water out, reshape while damp and dry flat, away from direct sun and radiators.

Fold knitwear rather than hanging it, a hanger stretches the shoulders over time. Store it clean, moths are drawn to worn wool rather than washed wool.

A little pilling on a new knit is normal and stops after the first few wears. Take it off with a wool comb or a fabric shaver rather than pulling it.

One fibre. Fewer clothes.

One fibre. Fewer clothes.

  • Merino resists odour on its own, so a shirt goes days between wears without a wash.
  • The fibre regulates to your body rather than the forecast, so one weight covers more weather.
  • It moves moisture as vapour before it turns into sweat, so it dries quickly and never clings.
  • 17.5 micron, finer than a human hair, which is why it sits against skin without prickle.
  • It packs down small and drops its creases overnight on a hanger.
Where the wool comes from

Where the wool comes from

  • Our fibre is grown in Australia, where around eighty percent of the world's finest apparel wool comes from. Generations of breeding for fineness rather than volume is the reason, and no other country has caught up.
  • We buy at 17.5 micron. Finer wool costs more per kilo and there is no way around that, which is why a lot of what gets sold as fine merino sits nearer nineteen.
  • Spun and finished in Italy, in mills that have worked fine wool for longer than most countries have made clothing.
  • Cut and made in Italy, in the same small number of factories every season.
  • We make one range and repeat it. No drops, no seasonal colours, nothing you cannot replace in a year.
Reviews
  • I love Bello Merino and have a few items. So soft, warm and cooling at the same time. Thank you very much.

  • I don't really have specifics. I enjoy the quality of the product, and purchasing is smooth.
    Daniel Okafor, Atlanta, GA
  • I love the trousers that I got, and I wear them every time I go out. They look great, are very comfortable, and they don't get stinky, which means I can go longer without looking for a laundromat.
Ben Hartley, Denver, CO Merino Trousers
  • I ran into a problem with my original order but customer service went above and beyond to make it right. The replacement item is perfect.
    Anthony Rivera, Austin, TX
