The cut is close and clean rather than boxy, so between two sizes we would take the larger. It keeps the line through the shoulder without pulling across the chest.

Description

Somewhere between a polo and a sweater, which is exactly why it works. Long sleeves, a soft spread collar knitted to shape, and a three button placket that sits flat whether you wear it open or closed.

Knitted on a 12 gauge machine from 17.5 micron superfine merino at 260gsm, with a lightly brushed finish that gives it depth without weight. Substantial enough to wear as the top layer, fine enough to go under a jacket.

  • Fully fashioned spread collar: knitted to shape so it rolls cleanly and holds its point
  • Three button placket: tonal buttons, reinforced box at the base, sits flat open or closed
  • Brushed finish: softened surface with a fine halo, matte and quiet
  • Ribbed cuffs and hem band: keeps its shape wash after wash
  • Naturally odour resistant: merino's antimicrobial structure means multiple wears between washes
  • Thermoregulating: cool when it's warm, warm when it's cool

Available sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL

Care

Air it first. Merino clears odour on its own, so hanging a garment overnight usually does the work a wash would. Most pieces need washing a fraction as often as cotton.

When it does need washing, use the wool cycle at 30°C or cooler with a detergent made for wool. No bleach. No fabric softener, it coats the fibre and takes the odour resistance with it.

Never tumble dry, the heat and agitation felt the fibre and it does not come back. Do not wring. Press the water out, reshape while damp and dry flat, away from direct sun and radiators.

Fold knitwear rather than hanging it, a hanger stretches the shoulders over time. Store it clean, moths are drawn to worn wool rather than washed wool.

A little pilling on a new knit is normal and stops after the first few wears. Take it off with a wool comb or a fabric shaver rather than pulling it.

One fibre. Fewer clothes.

One fibre. Fewer clothes.

  • Merino resists odour on its own, so a shirt goes days between wears without a wash.
  • The fibre regulates to your body rather than the forecast, so one weight covers more weather.
  • It moves moisture as vapour before it turns into sweat, so it dries quickly and never clings.
  • 17.5 micron, finer than a human hair, which is why it sits against skin without prickle.
  • It packs down small and drops its creases overnight on a hanger.
Where the wool comes from

Where the wool comes from

  • Our fibre is grown in Australia, where around eighty percent of the world's finest apparel wool comes from. Generations of breeding for fineness rather than volume is the reason, and no other country has caught up.
  • We buy at 17.5 micron. Finer wool costs more per kilo and there is no way around that, which is why a lot of what gets sold as fine merino sits nearer nineteen.
  • Spun and finished in Italy, in mills that have worked fine wool for longer than most countries have made clothing.
  • Cut and made in Italy, in the same small number of factories every season.
  • We make one range and repeat it. No drops, no seasonal colours, nothing you cannot replace in a year.

  • I love Bello Merino and have a few items. So soft, warm and cooling at the same time. Thank you very much.

  • I love the trousers that I got, and I wear them every time I go out. They look great, are very comfortable, and they don't get stinky, which means I can go longer without looking for a laundromat.
